Joe Biden Arizona Republic

Current U.S. President Joe Biden is looking to remain in his seat as the incumbent for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. But he will need to do so without the public backing of popular WWE personality turned pop culture icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Johnson famously backed Biden’s campaign in the 2020 election which Biden of course won. But now, Johnson’s tune has completely changed on the current president after his four years in the seat.

Johnson recently appeared on the Will Cain Show on Fox News, sharing that he will not endorse Biden this time around for a multitude of reasons.

“Am I happy with the state of America right now? Well, that answer is no,” Johnson told Cain transcribed by TMZ. “Do I believe we’re gonna get better? I believe in that. I’m an optimistic guy, and I believe we can get better. The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was one I thought was the best decision for me at that time. And I thought back then when we talked about I’m in this position where I have some influence, and it’s my job then, I felt like that then, it’s my job now to exercise my influence and share. This is who I’m gonna endorse. Am I gonna do that again this year? The answer is no.”

As for why Johnson has flipped on Biden, he says that he believes Biden’s presidency has further divided the country, instead of bringing it together like he hoped.

“What I realized, and I didn’t realize it back then,” The Rock said, “What that caused back then was something that tears me up in my guts, back then, and now, which is division. And that got me.”

Only time will tell whether this affects Biden’s incoming campaign. But it certainly can’t help matters.
