Caitlin Clark Syndication: The Des Moines Register

Over the past few months, Caitlin Clark has become one of the most dominant and recognizable basketball players on the entire planet. She’s even attracted the attention of living legend LeBron James who has commented on her multiple times, and it sounds like she enjoys the attention from James, not just for herself but for the entire sport of women’s basketball.

During a press conference ahead of this weekend’s Final Four showdown with the UConn Huskies, Caitlin Clark was asked about drawing attention from LeBron James.

“Honestly, I’ve never talked to LeBron directly but obviously I’ve seen that he’s commented about myself,” Clark said. “I just saw this morning he talked about women’s basketball in general and how good the game is and the stars in our game. He knows what he’s talking about – he pays attention. He supports the game, he doesn’t just talk about it. He really shows up and supports.”

And Clark is quite happy to have his support as she thinks it’s good for women’s basketball.

“I think that’s the coolest thing – one of the greatest players of all time really helping support and grow women’s basketball. That’s exactly what we need,” Clark said.

Now, Clark will have a chance to shine in Cleveland, where James began his NBA career and won a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers. And that will be special for her.

“He’s somebody I always idolized so it’s cool to be in Cleveland and play here, play where his career started and he was able to do so many amazing things,” Clark said.
