LeBron James Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James has been the face of the NBA for over two decades, establishing himself as arguably the greatest player to ever play the sport. But even though he’s still performing at a high level, he’s nearing retirement age – and he knows it.

During a recent interview, LeBron James was asked how long he thinks he will continue playing in the NBA. And he got pretty candid in his response as he admitted that he thinks he could retire relatively soon, saying “I don’t have much time left.”

“Not very long. Not very long,” James said during the interview.

“I’m on the other side obviously of the hill. I’m not going to play another 21 years, that’s for [darn] sure. Not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I retire. But I don’t have much time left,” James said.

Obviously, these comments from James led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

James did not elaborate further and gave no specific timeframe, but it’s pretty clear that he’s quickly approaching retirement.

In the meantime, he is continuing to lead the Lakers on a push for yet another playoff spot.
