Earlier this week, United States Women’s National Team star Korbin Albert was called out by Megan Rapinoe after she was found to have reposted an array of anti-LGBTQ posts on social media. And now, Albert is apologizing.

Megan Rapinoe called out Korbin Albert after fans found that she had reposted several anti-LGBTQ videos on her TikTok account with one fan pointing out that she even liked a video joking that God had caused Rapinoe’s devastating injury in the final game of her professional soccer career.

As a result of the controversy, Albert took to her Instagram story to apologize.

“I want to sincerely apologize for my actions on social media. Liking and sharing posts that are offensive, insensitive and hurtful was immature and disrespectful which was never my intent,” Albert posted on her Instagram story, according to Yahoo Sports.

“I’m really disappointed in myself and am deeply sorry for the hurt that I have caused to my teammates, other players, fans, friends and anyone who was offended.

“I truly believe that everyone should feel safe and respected everywhere and on all playing fields. I know my actions have not lived up to that and for that l sincerely apologize. It’s an honor and a privilege to get to play this sport on the world stage and I promise to do better.”

Rapinoe has not yet responded to her apology.
