This weekend, transgender professional darts player Noa-Lynn van Leuven of the Netherlands won the first Professional Darts Corporation Women’s Series title of her career. The victory sparked outrage among some and appears to have led two other professional darts players to quit the Netherlands national team. But it sounds like she has support from those in charge of the league.

This week, Dutch darts players Anca Zijlstra and Aileen de Graaf announced on Facebook that they were leaving the Netherlands national team as a result of Noa-Lynn van Leuven, with Zijlstra claiming she is “embarrassed to be a part of the Dutch Team, because a biological man is playing in the women’s team.”

But it sounds like van Leuven is well within the rules and has the support of PDC leaders as they have already decided to allow her to continue competing in the women’s division.

During an interview earlier this year, PDC chief executive Matt Porter was asked about the league’s transgender policy, and he said there was a policy in place “… which Noa-Lynn complies with, easily, and has done for a long time.”

“She’s more than deserving of her place in the women’s world match play,” Porter said.

So it’s pretty clear that she will continue to be allowed to compete.
