On Monday, former Syracuse Orange basketball player Brendan Paul was arrested in Miami, Florida after being named in a lawsuit connected to now infamous hip-hop artist and record label owner Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
For those unaware of the current controversy surrounding Combs, he had two properties in Los Angeles and Miami get raided by federal Homeland Security agents on Monday in connection to an ongoing sex trafficking investigation by federal authorities in New York.
Combs has had several sexual assault lawsuits filed against him in recent months, which include a disturbing lawsuit from his former girlfriend, R&B star Casandra Ventura, better known as Cassie.
Brendan Paul was named in a recent lawsuit against Diddy as a “drug mule” and “close confidant” to Diddy. This led to Paul’s arrest on Monday after he was found while Diddy and his crew were stopped by federal law enforcement agents.
According to TMZ, Paul was booked on two separate drug charges after federal agents intercepted Diddy’s plane at the Opa Locka Airport in Miami.
The charges include one count of possession of suspected cocaine and another of possession of suspected marijuana candy, both of which are felonies if Paul ends up getting convicted.
Paul is perhaps best known to the sports world as a primary bench player for the Syracuse Orange for two seasons, where he played an extremely limited role for the program in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
Much of the college basketball world completely forgot about Paul, as he only appeared in 17 games throughout his collegiate career. Regardless, many were completely shocked to hear his name emerge in connection to Diddy.
