Earlier in the offseason, the New York Jets gave quarterback Zach Wilson permission to seek a trade after yet another rough season with him as the starting quarterback in place of the injured Aaron Rodgers. But in a pretty surprising twist, it sounds like the team has actually turned down some trade offers and decided to keep him and wait for a better trade package.

According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the New York Jets have actually received offers for Zach Wilson but have decided not to accept any of them up to this point, instead keeping Wilson on their roster.

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Jets have gotten trade offers for Wilson. But they don’t like the offers they’ve gotten. So they’re waiting for something better,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk this week.

“The terms of the offers and the teams that made them aren’t known, for now. It’s believed by some that owner Woody Johnson is the person keeping it from happening.”

It’s obviously a pretty surprising move from the Jets as most expected the team to move on from Wilson as soon as possible given the way the season played out.

We’ll have to see how this works out for them.
