The Denver Broncos currently hold the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but it sounds like the team would at least be open to the possibility of trading up to acquire a higher pick and potentially select a quarterback.

During a recent conversation with NFL insider Ian Rapoport for the NFL Network, Sean Payton said that it is “realistic” to think that the Denver Broncos could look to trade up in the draft, and seemed to suggest the team would be interested in acquiring the No. 4 overall pick currently held by the Arizona Cardinals.

“Here at the AFC Coaches Breakfast, I asked #Broncos coach Sean Payton how realistic it was for him to be a potential trade-up team? ‘Realistic.’ He said they’ll look at it, and noted, ‘It’s good to be [Arizona Cardinals general manager] Monti (Ossenfort) right now.’ Hard to know what it will cost eventually…” Rapoport said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, it’s pretty shocking and significant news that the Broncos are at least considering a trade of this magnitude, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

We’ll have to see whether or not the Broncos actually pull off a trade.
