Conor McGregor in the UFC octagon

UFC fans have been speculating about a potential return to the octagon for Conor McGregor for months now. And on Tuesday, McGregor made an announcement that certainly garnered the attention of the sports world.

McGregor spoke to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi about his future with the promotion, stating that things are “all systems go” on a fight in the not-so-distant future.

In the conversation, he revealed that his opponent will be former Bellator champion turned UFC star Michael Chandler, and will take place this summer at some point.

“We got confirmation a few days ago that it is all systems go, the Notorious will be returning in the octagon this summer,” McGregor told Raimondi. “Michael Chandler, yeah. I like Mike, but I’m going to bust him up. I am gonna bust Mike up. Great news, it is all systems go. Thumbs up, everything is sweet.”

Chandler and McGregor were originally supposed to fight last year after the end of the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter, which the two coached in.

Fans have patiently been awaiting this announcement. And naturally, they are quite glad to see that McGregor is returning to the cage.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether McGregor is the same fighter as he once was when he steps into the cage this summer.

McGregor’s last fight is notably over two years ago, a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier back in July of 2021 due to a pretty gruesome leg injury that took hime quite some time to recover from.

Regarding, the king is back, and people sure are eager to see how he looks back in the octagon.
