Ohio State vs. Michigan Syndication: USA TODAY

The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines obviously have arguably the fiercest rivalry in the entire history of college football, but it sounds like there’s a chance that rivalry could heat up even further based on a move Michigan is trying to make against Ohio State.

The Michigan Wolverines are in need of a new running backs coach after parting ways with Mike Hart this offseason. And according to a report from John Brice of Football Scoop, the Wolverines are targeting current Ohio State Buckeyes running backs coach Tony Alford for the position.

“Tony Alford, whose nine-year run at Ohio State is the longest of his career, is the target to join his current employer’s biggest rival, FootballScoop has learned. A deal could be reached as early as today if the parties come to an agreement sources shared,” Brice wrote for Football Scoop on Wednesday morning.

Obviously, this is some pretty big news, and the college football world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

This would certainly add some more fire to and already fierce rivalry if it happens. We’ll have to see if Alford and Michigan can agree to a contract.
