Josh Allen Syndication: Democrat and Chronicle

The Buffalo Bills have one of the top quarterbacks in the league in Josh Allen, but they seemingly have yet to fully maximize his potential, especially young in his career. But it sounds like head coach Sean McDermott is committed to doing that.

During a recent interview with Tim Graham of The Athletic, Sean McDermott made it clear that he believes in himself and his ability as a coach and promised to help Josh Allen reach his full potential as a quarterback.

“I’m confident in who I am as Josh’s coach,” McDermott told The Athletic. “I know how to develop players. I’m confident in that and extremely confident Josh is going to develop the best he can, that we’re going to maximize Josh’s potential.”

McDermott is a defensive-minded head coach, but he does not seem to think that this holds him back in his ability to develop Allen and lead him to success.

“I watched Donovan McNabb and Cam Newton grow, one under an offensive head coach in [Andy] Reid and the other under a defensive head coach in Ron Rivera,” McDermott said. “I took copious notes. I wasn’t just over there, doing my thing. I was watching.”

We’ll have to see how Allen develops under McDermott in the coming years.
