The Cincinnati Bengals had expectations of making the playoffs and contending for a Super Bowl last season with star quarterback Joe Burrow leading the way. Neither happened after Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury, but Burrow doesn’t seem to think his injury was the reason why the team didn’t meet its goals.

During a recent interview with ESPN, Joe Burrow called out his teammates a little bit as he made it clear that he didn’t think the team was good enough across the board to contend for a Super Bowl even if he did not suffer a season-ending injury.

“We need the guys that we draft to come in and be productive and take on the leadership roles that we’ve lost the last couple of years,” Burrow told Ben Baby of ESPN. “And we need to bring in the right pieces this offseason too, whether it’s the draft or free agency.

“Like I said, the injuries were what they were last year, but we weren’t good enough in a lot of different places to make a Super Bowl run in my opinion.”

Obviously, these are some pretty strong words from Burrow, and they led to a big reaction on social media.

We’ll have to see if the team can make that improvement Burrow is seeking next season.
