When the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a brutal loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs, reports and rumors quickly spread that legendary center Jason Kelce was planning to retire from football. Since then, Kelce has never made a formal announcement one way or another. But if he does want to play football next year, the Eagles have made it pretty clear that they will take him back.
The Philadelphia Eagles would undoubtedly like to know whether or not Jason Kelce will be back with the team next year as soon as possible so they can plan accordingly one way or another, but they have made it clear that they will not rush him on that decision. More than that, the team has made the decision that they will bring him back if he wants to play football again next season – they don’t want to see him playing elsewhere.
“I know this, I don’t think there’s a scenario in any of our minds, starting with [owner Jeffrey Lurie], where Jason plays anywhere else,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said according to Pro Football Talk. “He deserves the time to decide what he wants to do. Obviously we’re gonna accommodate that because he doesn’t need to be rushed on that.”
It’s clear that the Eagles would take Kelce back. Now, the ball is in his court.
