It’s safe to say that Zach Wilson’s career has not exactly gone according to plan since the New York Jets selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft as he has an abysmal 12-21 record as a starter and has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns in his three-year career. And now, the Jets seem to be attempting a move that has fans pretty perplexed.

On Wednesday, New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas announced that the team had given Zach Wilson permission to seek a trade to a different team this offseason.

“Where we are exactly, we’ve given them permission to talk to other teams about a trade,” Douglas said. “I’m going to circle back with [Wilson’s agent] at some point, either this week or next week, just to see how those conversations are going. But other than that, there’s nothing else to report.”

This move seemed to draw the same reaction from everybody as nobody seems to believe that any team will be willing to give up anything to trade for Wilson after the way he has played for three seasons with the Jets.

We’ll have to see if they can find a trade partner, but it does not seem likely.
