Calvin Ridley Syndication: The Tennessean

This season, superstar wide receiver Calvin Ridley was the top receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars as he totaled over 1,000 receiving yards in his first full season since 2020. But if the team wants him back next season, they’re going to have to be prepared to give him a pay raise and part ways with a draft pick.

As league insider Adam Schefter of ESPN points out, if the Jaguars decide to re-sign Calvin Ridley to another contract, they will owe the Atlanta Falcons a second-round pick as per the terms of their trade agreement.

“Should WR Calvin Ridley re-sign with Jacksonville, the Jaguars would owe a second-round pick to Atlanta — No. 48 overall — as part of the conditions from their trade last year. The Falcons currently have a third-round pick, No. 79 overall, via Jacksonville,” said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

So not only will the Jaguars be deciding whether or not Ridley is worth re-signing in terms of the salary they can afford to pay him, but they will also be considering whether or not re-signing him is worth parting ways with a second-round pick.

We’ll have to see what the team ultimately decides to do.
