On Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes matched Tom Brady as the only quarterback in NFL history to win three Super Bowl championships before the age of 29. But Mahomes made it clear that his ultimate goal is Brady’s record for all-time Super Bowl titles.

During a recent interview following his third Super Bowl victory, Patrick Mahomes had a pretty clear message for Tom Brady as he re-affirmed that he is chasing his all-time record.

“Yeah, I think it’s more just me trying to be the best I can be,” Mahomes said via a video shared by Andrew Siciliano of NFL Media. “I don’t want to have any regrets at the end of my career. And I know how great of an organization, how great of a coach, tight end, players that I have around me. And I don’t want to let that slide by. I want to make sure I maximize my opportunities.

“Obviously, the goal is always seven [rings] — it’s always to try and get as much as you can. And so, all I can do is try to maximize my opportunities every single day, continue to work to be better not only for myself, but for my team. And we’ll see what happens at the end of my career.”

Brady won three Super Bowl titles before he turned 29,  but he didn’t win another one for another 10 years. So if Mahomes can win one more in the next decade, he’ll technically be ahead of Brady’s pace.
