The San Francisco 49ers have not been happy about their practice field as they prepare for their Super Bowl LVIII matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, and they’re also not happy with something that happened at their hotel this week.

Early Thursday morning, the San Francisco 49ers were jarred awake by the fire alarm at the team’s hotel on the outskirts of Las Vegas. The alarm went off a few minutes before most players were scheduled to wake up in the morning, and stayed on for about 18 minutes. Engineers at the hotel said it was a simple false alarm, but 49ers players are not convinced by that.

Whether it was a prank or something else, the players don’t seem to think that it was a simple accident.

“I think there’s no way it’s random,” star running back Christian McCaffrey told ESPN. “It’s part of it. It’s just more wood thrown on the fire.”

Star pass rusher Nick Bosa agreed with this assessment from McCaffrey.

“I’m sure somebody did it,” Bosa said. “It kind of reminded me of Philly when they had this construction going on outside. It was early in the morning and they were like demolishing a bridge right outside of our hotel. We haven’t had the best luck. But no excuses.”

This comes in addition to the practice field that the Niners were not happy with, believing it to be too soft for their liking.

It seems like a lot of things have not gone their way as they prepare for the Super Bowl.
