After the season, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has a decision to make about his future with the team, whether he plans to retire or return to the team for another season. But with that decision looming, it doesn’t sound like the Chiefs are expecting him to retire.

During a recent interview with Chris Russo of Mad Dog Sports Radio ahead of the Super Bowl, Kansas City Chiefs team owner Clark Hunt said that he does not expect Andy Reid to retire this season and expects him to be the team’s coach for “many more years.”

“We have that conversation each off-season and so, you know, that’s a conversation we’ll have at the end of the year,” Hunt said on the show. “But I’m not expecting him to retire. He loves what he’s doing. I know he’s energized by the team that he has. I know he loves coaching Patrick Mahomes. He’s got a generational quarterback. So, I look forward to having Andy as our head coach for many more years.”

Obviously, it’s pretty significant that Hunt seems to be expecting Reid back for the foreseeable future, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

Reid has been mostly noncommittal one way or another about his retirement decision, but it’s pretty clear that the Chiefs don’t expect him to retire this offseason.
