After she began dating Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce, pop sensation Taylor Swift has been seen at many Chiefs games throughout the season in support of Kelce as she cheers on the Chiefs. And the NFL is sure happy to have her support.

During his annual Super Bowl press conference on Monday, Roger Goodell was asked about the effect that Taylor Swift has had on the league’s popularity this season, and he certainly didn’t shy away from admitting that it’s great to have her support.

“Having the Taylor Swift effect is also a positive,” Goodell said. ” Listen, both Travis and Taylor are wonderful young people. They seem very happy. She knows great entertainment, and I think that’s why she loves NFL football. But I think it’s great to have her a part of it.”

“Obviously, it creates a buzz, I think it creates another group of young fans – particularly young women – that are interested in seeing ‘Why is she going to this game? Why is she interested in this game?’ Besides Travis, she is a football fan. And I think that is great for us,” Goodell continued.

Goodell was then asked for his response to anybody who thinks that the relationship between Kelce and Swift was scripted by the NFL.

“I don’t think I’m that good of a scripter, or anybody on our staff,” Goodell said. “Listen, there is no way that I could have scripted that one – let’s just put it that way. Or anybody in our office.

“She’s a remarkable performer. She knows great entertainment. I had the opportunity ot go to two of her concerts with our guys and my wife. She’s the best of the best. Having her come to NFL games, having her a part of that is nothing but a positive.”

It’s clear that Goodell and the NFL are happy to have Swift around.
