Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has not signed a long-term contract extension with the team since joining the team as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. But it sounds like he expects to receive that contract extension when all is said and done.

It’s not clear where the contract negotiations currently stand between Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins, but the quarterback did express confidence that the two sides will ultimately be able to work out an extension.

“I believe that will happen,” Tagovailoa said according to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

However, Tagovailoa was not necessarily interested in talking about the specifics of any contract negotiations.

“I’m gonna let, you know, my agents, Chris, Mike [McDaniel], let those guys talk about that and let them move forward accordingly,” Tagovailoa said.

Miami picked up Tagovailoa’s fifth-year option last spring, meaning the quarterback is now entering in to the final year of his contract.

Tagovailoa had some injury concerns last season as he missed several games with head injuries, but he not only did he stay healthy this season, but he also had the best season of his entire career on the field which surely helped bolster the team’s confidence in him moving forward.
