When Jim Harbaugh decided to leave the Michigan Wolverines to become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, he made it quite clear that the reason for his decision was his desire to win a Super Bowl championship – something that’s eluded him so far. But it sounds like he won’t be content with just one Lombardi Trophy.
During his press conference on Thursday, Jim Harbaugh set some pretty insane expectations for his Los Angeles Chargers teams, saying that the goal isn’t just one Super Bowl championship, but “multiple, multiple championships.”
“It needs to be multiple, multiple championships,” Harbaugh told reporters on Thursday according to Kris Rhim of ESPN. “We’re going to be humble. Humble and hungry. But that’s our goal. Our goal is to treat people in a first-class manner and to win multiple championships.”
Obviously, this is no easy task. In fact, only 14 coaches have ever won more than one Super Bowl championship.
However, Harbaugh did just win his first championship as a coach this year when he led the Michigan Wolverines to their first-ever College Football Playoff national championship, so he is probably feeling pretty confident.
We’ll have to see whether or not he can achieve these quite lofty goals.
