Earlier this month, a shocking report quietly revealed that the San Francisco 49ers wanted to sign Tom Brady this offseason to be the team’s starting quarterback over Brock Purdy. Nobody within the Niners organization was asked about the report, but Tom Brady finally gave his reaction to the claim during a recent interview.

On Tuesday, Tom Brady joined The Pat McAfee Show primarily to discuss his new partnership with the apparel brand NOBULL. But he was also directly asked about the comments from Brock Purdy claiming that the Niners wanted to sign him this offseason.

Brady did not specifically confirm the report, but he certainly did not deny it, either.

“In this last season, there’s a lot of different things that people would suggest, but I kind of just kept my mind focused on where I wanted to go,” Brady said according to 49ers WebZone. “Again, this was a great year for me to sit back and watch and learn and get prepared for being in the Fox booth next year.”

Whatever happened during the offseason, ultimately Brady chose to remain retired and the Niners continued with Brock Purdy as their starting quarterback.

It’s safe to say that it worked out for everyone.
