During Sunday afternoon’s AFC Championship showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs, rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers was called for taunting after a long reception in the second half. But Cincinnati Bengals superstar quarterback Joe Burrow doesn’t think that the flag should have been thrown.

After the costly penalty flag was thrown against Zay Flowers and pushed the Ravens out of the red zone, Joe Burrow shared a controversial take on the matter, suggesting that the NFL should not throw flags for taunting, and should simply let players talk all the trash they want.

“Let the guys taunt,” Burrow said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s certainly a bold take from Burrow, especially given his reputation as one of the more competitive players in the league, and it proved to be a little bit of a controversial stance.

It’s even more surprising that Burrow would want this call to go in favor of the Ravens given the divisional rivalry with Baltimore, but it’s clear that Burrow is sticking to his guns.

But regardless of what Burrow thinks about the rule, it’s unlikely to be changed anytime soon.
