During the Houston Astros’ run through the Major League Baseball postseason last year, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz became somewhat of a curse to the team. And now it looks like he brought that bad luck to another Texas team.

Cruz, a noted Astros fan, attended five Astros games during the team’s postseason run. Unfortunately for the team, they lost all five of those games, including a winner-take-all Game 7 matchup with the Texas Rangers in the World Series. That led many to see it as a bad omen when Cruz showed up at Monday night’s College Football Playoff matchup between Texas and Washington in support of the Longhorns.

“welp sorry texas but it’s over for yall,” college football personality Brian Floyd said in a post on X, a social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

The result certainly didn’t do anything to disprove the Cruz Curse as the Longhorns fell to Washington by a score of 37-31, ending their season and their pursuit of a national title.

It’s probably just sheer coincidence that Cruz keeps attending important games where his rooting interest ultimately loses, but the losses are definitely adding up in recent months.

We’ll see if this changes anytime in the near future.
