The New York Giants are making a change at the quarterback position this week as head coach Brian Daboll announced on Wednesday morning that the team would be starting veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor over rookie Tommy DeVito, who has started the majority of the games for the team this season after the injury to Daniel Jones. And he explained that decision a bit.
During his press conference on Wednesday, Brian Daboll explained that the decision came after Tyrod Taylor performed well when he replaced DeVito at halftime of Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I thought [Taylor] did some good things in the second half of Philly, so he earned the right to start this game,” Daboll said according to ESPN. “Getting ready for the Rams. Really have nothing else to add on it. That’s where we’re at.”
Taylor finished the game 7 of 16 passing for 133 yards with one touchdown on a perfectly thrown deep ball to wide receiver Darius Slayton for a 69-yard score.
It sounds like the second-half performance was enough to convince Daboll that Taylor gave the team the best chance to win in this week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. We’ll have to see how he performs.
