Ahead of their College Football Playoff matchup with the Michigan Wolverines, it sounds like the Alabama Crimson Tide are dealing with a pretty shocking off-the-field distraction.

According to a report from AL.com, Alabama Crimson Tide offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett was arrested Wednesday night by the Tuscaloosa Police Department and has been charged with knowingly passing on a sexually transmitted disease.

Pritchett was arrested under AL Code § 22-11A-21 which states that “any person afflicted with a sexually transmitted disease who shall knowingly transmit, or assume the risk of transmitting, or do any act which will probably or likely transmit such disease to another person.”

The charge is a Class C misdemeanor charge in Alabama, meaning Pritchett faces three months in jail or fines of up to $500 if convicted.

A five-star prospect in the 2022 high school recruiting class, Pritchett was rated as the No. 4 offensive tackle and No. 31 overall player coming out of high school.

Even though Pritchett was not the team’s primary left tackle this season, he did split time with freshman Kadyn Proctor throughout the year at the position, appearing in each of Alabama’s 12 regular season matchups.

Pritchett entered the transfer portal earlier this month but has since decided to withdraw his name and return to the program next season.
