Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver George Pickens could see an end to his time with the franchise sooner rather than later.
Pickens turned heads throughout the NFL this week when he admitted to not routinely blocking for his teammates to avoid injury.
This was after the Steelers wide receiver was noticeably frustrated on the sidelines during a loss.
Tomlin didn’t mince words with the former second-round pick, saying that his antics were “a problem because it’s not solution-oriented.”
Tomlin didn’t stop there, either. “You know we are all frustrated, but we’ve got to manage our frustrations in a professional, mature way. And when it’s not done that way, it’s not necessarily pushing us toward solutions,” Tomlin said at the time.
The coach had more advice following Pickens’ recent revelation about his reticence to block.
“When you’re winning and doing your jobs, a lot of the attention is on things such as that,” Tomlin said Wednesday, according to CBS Sports. “When you’re not doing your job and losing, you better keep your [darn] mouth shut and understand that that tracks a certain type of attention, as well. And usually that’s vulture-like attention.”
Tomlin went on to say that Pickens would start Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
