Kyle McCord The Columbus Dispatch

After starting all 12 games for the Ohio State Buckeyes this season and leading them to an 11-1 record and a No. 6 ranking in the final College Football Playoff rankings, Kyle McCord will now start his next college football game with the Syracuse Orange after deciding to transfer to Syracuse in a move that perplexed college football analyst Paul Finebaum.

During a recent appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter with Shae Peppler, Paul Finebaum had some pretty harsh words for the transfer decision of Kyle McCord.

“Shae I think I spoke too soon because I thought he would land at a major school, a Nebraska or somewhere else that was in play. But Syracuse is an utterly perplexing decision,” Finebaum said on the show according to On3.

As Finebaum explains, he doesn’t think Syracuse provides much upside for a quarterback like McCord, especially considering how highly touted of a prospect McCord was considered not all that long ago.

“It’s a program that quite frankly doesn’t have a great path of coming back quickly,” Finebaum said. “I appreciate him getting another opportunity, but a year ago this guy was considered all-everything, a can’t miss and now he’s going to Syracuse. It’s weird.”

We’ll have to see how McCord fares at Syracuse next season.
