UFC star Colby Covington suffered a devastating loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 with Donald Trump in attendance.
Covington, in the lead up to the fight, routinely mocked Edwards’ father, who was murdered when he was only 13. The comments almost sparked a fight in the pre-fight ceremonies, according to Newsweek.
However, Edwards easily defeated the former interim champion in a fight scored 49-46 with Trump watching in the front row.
In the post-game press conference, Covington said the fight was fixed due to his love of Trump.

Covington said Edwards”didn’t put any damage on me. I thought I had the win. I thought I did enough but y’know, the judges have never favored me. They hate me because I support Trump and y’know everyone hates Trump in this building so y’know it is what it is. Life goes on.”
According to Newsweek, the social reaction to Covington’s comments wasn’t kind.
“Typical MAGA Republicans, always playing the victim card. When things don’t go their way they claim it’s rigged. Did he just said everyone hates Trump? I thought everyone loves Trump? according to MAGA Republicans…” one fan wrote.
“The Wuss Factor in these dudes just staggers the imagination. I’ve played every violent sport on the planet. You win some and lose some. Sometimes, you get your ass kicked. How you get back up is what makes you a man. Go back and do better, and stop whining. Jesus, no wonder nobody is making babies now,” wrote another.
