After a surprising 3-0 start to the season, the Colorado Buffaloes did not end their first season under new head coach Deion Sanders the way they would have liked, winning just one of their last eight games to finish 4-8. But Sanders still sounds optimistic about the future.

Even though Deion Sanders admits that there are some aspects of the team that are still “a little shaky,” he is largely happy with the direction the team is heading, saying “We’re certainly trending forward.”

“It’s a little shaky in certain areas, but we’re certainly heading in the right direction,” Sanders said following the season finale, according to On3. “We’re certainly trending forward. We got our butts kicked twice this year out of 12 games. I mean kicked twice. That was no win in those two games, every other game, other than that, we had a shot. And I think that’s progress. Were you here last year? That’s progress right?”

One of the biggest struggles for the team this season was the offensive line, and Sanders and the team have already addressed that issue through the transfer portal, bringing in five new transfer players to bolster that position group.

Sanders and the team will undoubtedly make more moves during the offseason, and it will be interesting to see how they perform next year.
