Michael Penix Jr. Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

This season, Washington Huskies star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has been one of the most dominant quarterbacks in the entire country, leading his team to a perfect 13-0 record and topping the country in passing yards per game. And he’s being properly celebrated for his dominance.

This week, Michael Penix Jr. was announced as one of four finalists for this season Heisman Trophy, joining LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. And it sounds like he’s happy to even be nominated for such a prestigious award.

“It’s just a blessing to be able to be in that talk,” Penix said. “For me, it was always the main thing was to win. To be able to do that today on a stage like this? It’s incredible. I’m going to always savor this moment.”

But Penix also understands that he wouldn’t be in this position without his teammates and his coaching, and he wants to share in the celebration with them.

“Obviously, I couldn’t do it without the guys around me,” Penix said. “I got to thank my offensive line for all the work that they put in each and every day to allow me to stay clean on Saturdays. I’m just super blessed for the guys I have around me. Coach DeBoer and the staff as well, for sure.”

Daniels is the heavy favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, but Penix has the second-best odds.
