Over the past few years, rumors have swirled suggesting that the two-time World Cup-winning United State’s Women’s National Team lost to the FC Dallas Under-15 boys’ in a practice game. And now, for the first time, one USWNT star is confirming the loss.

Longtime United States soccer star Carli Lloyd was asked on social media if it was true that the USWNT lost to “a bunch of 15 year old boys.” And Lloyd confirmed the news, saying “they were good.”

“What’s up Alexi? Yes it’s true. I know…thousands of people have already brought that up. They were good. We actually lost to a youth Bayern Munich team in my career as well but then we went on to win Olympics and World Cups. So…” Carli Lloyd said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known on Twitter.

The match in question occurred in 2017 when the USWNT took on the academy team in sort of an informal scrimmage which served as preparation for the USWNT ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Lloyd doesn’t seem too bothered by the loss though.

“Haha. They should beat us. Bigger, stronger, faster! Boys always gave us a run for our money! It was great prep,” Lloyd said.

But this should put a lot of questions to rest.
