Legendary quarterback Tom Brady may be retired from the NFL, but it sounds like he’s now shifting his focus to helping lead and build a team in a completely new sport: soccer.

Back in August, Tom Brady became a minority owner of the English soccer club Birmingham City, which plays in England’s second-highest division of professional soccer. This week, the club announced that it had hired English soccer legend Wayne Rooney as its next manager, and it sounds like he gets along quite well with Brady.

In his first press conference with the team on Thursday, Wayne Rooney made it very clear that Brady isn’t just a passive owner of the team, claiming Brady is “fully involved in the club.”

“I have spoken to Tom [Brady], he is very ambitious to move this club forward,” Rooney said in a news conference on Thursday according to ESPN. “It’s great to have him here, it’s important for the players to see Tom Brady have an involvement. It’s very clear that Tom is fully involved in the club.”

Rooney said that the club’s ultimate goal is to earn promotion to the English Premier League – England’s top soccer league. We’ll have to see if this partnership between Brady and Rooney can help accomplish that goal.
