Bud Light Bud Light

Earlier this year, transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney found herself at the center of a massive public controversy after partnering with Bud Light for a brief promotion. And now, she seems to be criticizing the company for not standing by her amid the controversy.

During a recent interview with Forbes, Dylan Mulvaney made it clear that she thinks companies have a responsibility to hire transgender people and that it shouldn’t be considered a political stance or a sign of activism when they do.

“Supporting and hiring trans people should not be political, and the people making it out to be – they’re bigots. And we should not let them win,” Mulvaney said during her interview with Forbes.

And more than just being willing to hire transgender people, Mulvaney believes that companies also have a responsibility to stand by them throughout controversy and backlash – which sounds like a subtle jab at Bud Light after the company did not publicly support her during the controversy.

“If you’re going to ask us to capitalize on our vulnerabilities and our traumas, at least have our backs when the going gets tough,” Mulvaney said.

Based on those comments, it seems that Mulvaney isn’t necessarily happy with the way Bud Light handled the whole situation.
