Colin Kaepernick Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier this week, a letter was leaked revealing that Colin Kaepernick sent to the New York Jets asking the team to consider adding him to the practice squad. But as one league insider points out, it’s just not going to happen.

As NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out, it’s just been far too long for Colin Kaepernick to make a return to the league because, as Florio claims, the league successfully kept him out of the league after his protests during the national anthem.

“It has simply been too long. It has been too long in part because the NFL successfully colluded against and blackballed Kaepernick,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk. “Congratulations, NFL. You won. The effort to keep Kaepernick out lasted long enough that the best argument for not giving him a chance is that it has simply been too long since he played.

“That’s the end of the story. The NFL wanted him out. The NFL kept him out. And now, it’s far too long for Kaepernick to get back in.”

It’s quite clear that there was once a time when Kaepernick could have played in the league and that he was intentionally kept out. But now, there’s just no realistic way he could still play in the NFL.
