Since his retirement from Major League Baseball, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling has been quite outspoken about his conservative Republican political beliefs, but some of his recent comments appear to have crossed a line, even by his standards.

During an appearance on Fox News this week, Curt Schilling criticized several prominent Republicans, including Dan Crenshaw and Jim Jordan, claiming they “just talk” and don’t actually do anything to solve the nation’s issues.

As a result, Schilling had a bold message, claiming that someone is “going to have to pull a trigger” in response to the current culture wars – likening the current situation to the American Revoluation.

“You look at the guys, the young men that signed the Constitution and all the things that they sacrificed, everything to come out from under a tyrannical government, and then eventually at some point, there was a man at Concord who decided he was going to pull the trigger,” Schilling said.

“And I feel like we’re getting back to a point where somebody is going to have to pull a trigger because everything we hold dear, everything this country was founded on is being just dragged through the mud and mocked and made fun of. This country was founded on Godly principles. No matter how offensive that is to the left, it’s true.”

Schilling’s comments were shocking, and they elicited quite a response on social media.

Schilling was asked afterward whether or not his comments were “metaphorical.” He claimed they were “absolutely” metaphorical, but claimed that Democrats would interpret it however they wanted regardless.
