Mallory Edens might be one of the heirs apparent to Milwaukee’s NBA franchise, but the daughter of Bucks co-owner Wes Edens has her sights set on another franchise: The New York Knicks.
TMZ caught up with Edens, where she said she’d like to buy the Knicks some day and her dads can keep the Bucks.
“I wanna buy the Knicks one day,” Mallory Edens told TMZ Sports. “I don’t need to swap — my dad can keep the Bucks.”
I’d be for that idea for multiple reasons.
First of all, seeing another female NBA owner/co-owner following Ann Kroenke (Denver Nuggets), Gail Miller (Utah Jazz) and Jeanie Buss (Los Angeles Lakers) would be excellent for the NBA. Representation matters, especially the higher up it is.
But, the big reason Edens hypothetically owning the Knicks would be James Dolan would no longer be the man pulling the strings. It’s immediate addition by subtraction.
So, even if the comments were just in passing or a joke, Edens some day owning the Knicks would likely be embraced by many people. Will it happen? Not as long as James Dolan is alive. So, maybe Edens can run the Bucks and eventually transition to the NBA’s most expensive team.
