For those that are trying to stay hip and in the know, Snapchat’s creation Snap Spectacles are now available on Amazon.

Spectacles were released last year on a limited basis and they were mostly used by content creators. Now the general public can get their hands on them with ease on one of the largest online marketplaces in the world.

Other than a pop up shop in New York City and a vending machine there as well, this is the first time they are selling on a wide scale.

Recode projected that Snap sold only about 60,000 pairs of Spectacles last quarter. Not a great number for a company that is worth billions of dollars.

The aesthetic of the glasses is what initially sold many consumers but as the talk around Spectacles and Google Glass die down, it doesn’t look like this is an investment worth making.

Not helping matters is the cost of the product.

People lose ten dollar glasses with ease, what do you think is going to happen when you buy a $130 pair of glasses that don’t have the prestige of other sunglass companies?

Interestingly enough, as The Verge notes, Snapchat has not lowered the price of the product. The price point could be one area that is causing lagging sales.

Now that Snapchat is worth half of it’s peak value, this app needs to find its footing and quick before it goes the way of the dodo bird.
