After 19 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs Tim Duncan retired after the 2015-16 season and to celebrate his illustrious career San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor has declared July 21st as Tim Duncan Day.
Duncan retires as one of the all time great big men in NBA history. He will be remembered for bringing five championships to the Spurs franchise along with 19 playoff appearances.
Duncan is also known for being humble and low-key and as Mayor Taylor said below he might be a bit timid of having a whole day dedicated to him.
“Tim may not be comfortable with all the attention, but I do think he deserves it. Besides being one of the greatest players of all time, he’s also an outstanding role model. He taught us how to work hard, win and remain humble.”
Despite this, it is the Mayor’s city so if she wants to hang up a banner on top of city hall in honor of Tim, it shall be done. The city of San Antonia loves you Tim, try to enjoy your day.
