As with any truly great internet viral sensation, the legend of Nik “Sauce Castillo” Stauskas was born incidentally.

During the Tuesday night game between the 76ers and Kings, the captioning for the game somehow churned out this when trying to write Nik Stauskas:

Stauskas, too busy playing an actual game to notice a goof up that could only be seen through the broadcast, was initially confused as to why everyone was suddenly calling him “Sauce Castillo.”

However, everyone, including Nik’s own teammates were quick to embrace “Sauce Castillo.” The nickname has taken on a life of its own.

And now, even local Sacramento restaurants are getting in on the “Sauce Castillo” fun. Lowbrau Sacramento is offering a mouthwatering creation to honor Stauskas. It’s essentially poutine, a fried egg, and a house sausage wrapped in a bun and drizzled with “Castillo sauce.”

Most internet trends come and go fairly quickly but I have a feeling that “Castillo Sauce” is going to stick with Nik Stauskas for a very long time.
