The Los Angeles Lakers’ Nick Young debuted a new haircut on Wednesday that marked a rather drastic departure from Young’s previous look.

The man known as Swaggy P made an appearance at the Lakers practice for an autograph signing session (Young hasn’t played since February 22nd due to a swollen knee) and his hair quickly became the topic of conversation for those who attended.

Young was reportedly inspired by a couple of sources for his new hairdo:

“I just felt like it was time for a change,” said Young, who skirted questions about his balky knee. “I was watching ‘Kid and Play,’ then I was sitting home and watching ‘Booty Call’ — I was like ‘Jamie Foxx has a nice haircut I want to try. That’s the inspiration behind it.”

Seeing as how the Lakers’ season isn’t really worth commenting on anymore, reporters asked Lakers coach Byron Scott for his hot take on Young’s new hairstyle. Scott absolutely roasted Swaggy P.

That would have been a dropped mic moment on its own, but Scott went even further.

Reporters then ran back to Young to tell him what Scott had said about his hair because, again, actually talking about the Lakers is an exercise in sadness. Young’s response to Scott was pretty great.

Other Lakers were a little more diplomatic.
