If you’re a friend or family member of Julian Edelman and you’re looking to get hooked up with Super Bowl tickets, well, you’re probably out of luck.

While the sports world is busy spewing hot takes on “Deflategate,” the Patriots are keeping their heads down and well on their way in preparing for the Seahawks for the big game in a few weeks. That includes Julian Edelman, who is apparently so strict about his preparation and regimen that he is refusing to hand out tickets to loved ones for fear that it might mess up his routine.

From an interview with CSNNE’s Phil Perry earlier this week:

Edelman explained that he has a relatively effective tactic for when it comes to deflecting what can be a time-consuming process dealing with ticket requests: Just say no. He learned how to do that back in 2011 when he went to the Super Bowl for the first time.

“I’m a pretty big a-hole to all my friends and family,” Edelman said. “They know that. When it’s football time it’s football time.”

That seems a bit harsh – especially considering the Patriots have an extra week before they suit up for the Super Bowl – but, come to think about it, trying to set up travel arrangements for others can be a huge pain in the ass. I’m sure preparation for the Super Bowl is going to be a difficult process, especially considering the Patriots will have to overcome the daunting task of using properly inflated balls.

Either way, I’m sure Bill Belichick – a master of prep – loves to see this kind of commitment from his guys.
