The hot new trend in NFL fandom these days appears to be predicting Super Bowl championships by way of body ink. Because it worked out so well for one Seattle Seahawks fan last season, fans of other teams must have said to themselves “sure, why not?” Well, someone should remind these idiots that only one team gets to win it every year, and — as of today — one of those teams will most certainly not be the Detroit Lions.
David Morian, of Grand Blanc (Mich.), made his bold prediction back in June, but after Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, he’s stuck with a Lombardi trophy, a Lions logo, and “Super Bowl Champs 2015” on his leg — and nothing to show for it. The tattoo artist claims he used a font that is easy to manipulate into other numbers, but Morian probably would have been better off leaving the whole blank and writing in the Roman numerals of whatever Super Bowl the Lions actually won (just be sure to leave enough space for the letters “MMMMMMMLCXVIII”). Right now, the best thing he can do is keep changing the year and get 30 seconds of air time on local news every season.
Speaking of the Cowboys and Super Bowl tattoos, here’s one fan who’s on the clock.
