For those of you that missed this story, it’s in your best interest to watch the video of Daniel Tosh dismantling ESPN for “cheapening his brand” by stealing his Web Redemption series concept. Because the claims were so heavy and it has received a significant amount of attention, a response from the sports network was imminent.

ESPN released the following statement:

This was more of an instance of using a common phrase than it was copying his wording. We know that doesn’t sound like the strongest explanation yet it’s the truth. We are looking forward to ‘giving it another shot’ in future installments of The Awesome Video Segment.

Using an awesome idea from Tosh.O to create a similar awesome idea of your own is understandable but they appeared to blatantly use the same exact concept that he has perfected with the hilarious Web Redemption series. Unsurprisingly, they are simply denying that his influence had anything to do with their series instead of admitting they borrowed the concept from Daniel Tosh.
