Well, this is probably marketing at it’s finest/worst.

After the attention which Marlins Man received for wearing his bright orange Marlins shirt behind home plate during the first game of the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals, it was perhaps inevitable that someone would try to emulate the stunt for Game 2.

Hence, Strange Music’s CEO Travis O’Guin wore a t-shirt stamped with his company’s logo on it right behind home plate for Game 2. To be fair to O’Guin, it’s probably much cheaper to buy tickets to the World Series than it is to buy ad time for the games (even if those seats are right behind home plate). Hell, the ~brand~ gets a lot more airtime this way as well.

ESPN’s noted ~brand~ guru Darren Rovell found that wearing a shirt with a brand on it behind home plate isn’t prohibited by MLB rules (enforcing a rule like that would be near impossible anyways):

It will be amazing if this form of advertising catches on. Can you imagine the amount of startup company t-shirts that would litter the landscape behind home plate at AT&T Park if Silicon Valley catches wind of this before Game 3 of the World Series?
