You may remember “Flappy Bird”, the Dong Ngyuen-created monstrosity that simply and starkly condensed all of life’s unfairness into one retro-inspired mobile game.

A while back, Nguyen dramatically retired the game, citing the game’s addictive nature and the stress over creating a viral sensation as reasons why “Flappy Bird” was surprisingly taken off the market:

“Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed. But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever.”

The Vietnam-based developer went on to say that he lost sleep after the game went viral and wished to return to a more peaceful life. He also stated that if any of his future games became equally as addictive as Flappy Birds, they would be removed as well.

Well, we’re about to find out if Nguyen can strike viral gold twice because he is unleashing a new game on an unprepared world. Coming on August 21st, “Swing Copters” takes the concept of “Flappy Bird” and flips the concept on its head. Instead of moving horizontally between oscillating pipes, players will move vertically between oscillating hammers.

Mind. Blown.

Hopefully, you’re phone is ready to take a beating.
