The outpouring of heartfelt tributes to Robin Williams will even extend to virtual worlds.

An online petition at Change.org asked the makers of World of Warcraft to memorialize Williams in the game itself.

Create an NPC within World of Warcraft to memorialize the late Robin Williams, an avid World of Warcraft player, and one of the funniest men alive.

The petition garnered over 10,000 signatures and Activision-Blizzard let it be known that they would add something in-game to remember Williams.

According to the petition, Williams took his gaming fairly seriously (his daughter Zelda was named after the Nintendo character) and he did play World of Warcraft “on the Mannoroth server, and was something of a troll in trade on good days or when anonymity allowed.” The petition suggests that the virtual Williams character could tell his jokes as an NPC in the World’s End Tavern where a “standup comedian” named Perry Gatner currently resides. The fact that the makers of the game responded so quickly in the affirmative demonstrates how powerful Williams’ influence was in so many people’s lives.
