The NBA Summer League is worth watching for the commentary alone.

A rule to live by; don’t trash talk Michael Jordan. The man is almost as highly-regarded for his barbs on the court as he is for his skills at putting a basketball through a hoop. Kendall Gill added to MJ’s reputation during a Summer League game between Miami and Brooklyn.

In a game between the Nets and Bulls during the 1996-97 season, Jim Jackson was playing well. So well, that he felt emboldened to let Michael Jordan know just how well he was faring against Jordan’s Bulls. While that would have been a huge enough mistake on its own, Jackson did so while wearing a Jordan Brand shoe which is akin to a drunk marksman spouting off about his accuracy before accidentally shooting himself in the foot. Needless to say, Jackson didn’t talk much after Jordan pointed out who’s sneakers Jackson was wearing.
