The Philadelphia Phillies offer visiting teams a rather tempting perk in the form of cheesesteaks. That’s right, if you are opposing the Phillies you can eat as many cheesesteaks as you like while in the visiting locker room. The team even provides a score card so that you can keep track of your total! Why, it almost sounds like the Phillies are encouraging opponents to gorge themselves on greasy steaks and cheese whiz before they face off.

Fortunately for the New York Mets, their game against the Phillies on April 30th was rained out and New York decided to do some good old fashioned team bonding by collectively pigging out on cheesesteaks:

On April 30, over some ten hours, the Mets ate 103, they say, setting the new single-day team record. Though baseball may be a sequence of individualized events, this was the work of a collective. It was planned two cheesesteaks per person, or more for those that were willing to help out where other teammates could not eat their share.

The real mystery is who on the team would need help finishing two cheesesteaks. C’mon guys, if Babe Ruth could live off hot dogs and beer while playing surely every player worth his salt (and saturated fats) could handle two cheesesteaks.
