You probably already know that Louisville guard Kevin Ware suffered a fractured tibia in the NCAA Tournament last spring and, if you’re one of the unfortunate ones who saw the photos , you know just how gruesome it was.
Amazingly, Ware managed to recover in time to play in Louisville’s home opener against Pikeville on Wednesday. Ware started the game on the bench and there was doubt if he would play – Ware admitted that he’s not 100% yet – but with Louisville holding a big league in the second half, Rick Pitino called his number.
Ware stepped onto the court for the first time in 220 days, took his first shot (a three), and drained it…giving us the first great moment of the 2013-2014 college basketball season.
Welcome back, Kev.
